window cloths

they are not really curtains at all, but more cloths that seal the windows against winter wind. probably with my beloved clear
push pins unless i can come up with a better plan. the two windows to the left of the West window are left un~covered....cannot
bear it to have all the world kept out. The cracks in these are stuffed with strips of wool felt.
8 3/4 inches short. will need to find something to stitch to the TOPS of each.
Would like to (if winter ever becomes "normal" again) be able to roll them up on sunny days (if winter ever becomes "normal"
again). Maybe with a dowel across the bottom?
The Summer Curtain would not be there...but replaced with whatever i come up with this year.....maybe a even newer door cloth?
Ordinarily, winter is only Jan ~ mid Feb so ordinarily, i choose to just suffer. this last winter began in November
and did not give up its grip till mid April.

it's a nice room Grace, i like the stripped back timber. make some more woven cloth, in a long length, and attach it to the top...k.

kaite..like everything here, this
ROOM is .... well, what. This
ROOM wasn't and then was. it was
a screened in back porch until
i guess 3 years? ago, no, 4. my
house is an old rickety trailer.
my daughter and i did a What if/
Why not and borrowed a sawzall to
cut out a 14ft chunk of the wall
to create the ROOM. neither of us
really having any idea what we were
doing. I wanted to leave the plain
2x4 ceiling but that was REALLY
impractical heat wise (i heat with
a wood stove) so we put the pressed
board. I like the pattern of it
better than plywood. There was
talk of ways to finish it, but i
never seem to find it a priority.
the windows i scavanged from a
neighbor who might be called a
hoarder. REALLY impractical, old
old wood frames, nothing really is
square at all so i just keep adding
quarter round molding and caulking
trying to plug up the cracks.
anyway...to me, it was a miracle.
14x10ft ROOM to work in. and
windows windows windows.
yes...more woven cloth, in a looong
strip. 2 of them.

i lived in an old trailer a couple of years ago too grace... no electricity, only at night... cooked outside mostly... was on about an acre or so... had chickens, rabbits, goats... it was the freest i'd felt in a long time... i miss that feeling

i've used this site to make curtains... don't know if you've seen it, maybe it could give some ideas...
