A forever cloth.

How interesting to me to read the thought processes here because it never occurs to me that working with cloth requires such questioning; I always assumed it was about the feel and the feeling; that the cloth spoke and took its own time in collaborating with the person who held it and the needle and thread. For me, with the little sewing that I have done, it is like entering a covenant with my dyed pieces; looking and listening and looking until my hands reach for the needle and thread; a covenant between what I see and what the cloth shows me. Time is not present...I guess I would say to you grace, trust in what is unfolding; you have a kinship with the cloth pieces that you have made that is like no other...

Marti~i may have realized an
important thing in thinking about
your comment....
many times it does/would happen
as you describe, yes.
in this case and i'm sure it will
happen again, i think it's that
the ground of the woven cloth that
presents this dilemma for me.
i really LOVE this particular
woven piece...its particular
softness, how it took the tea or
whatever it was (i don't know) that
i stained it with...and it is an
important part of the cloth story.
i want to put only images there
that are the minimal images to
tell the story, with the weaving
kind of "humming" in the back
ground. the stitching and colored
pencil, maybe, allows this???
so...still thinking...and thank
you xo
