holiday cloth 2010 ...myth

Posted by Picasa

"this holiday season can bring the best out in us.
let's accept that." jude hill

and this is some, the ones that were oriented
to image. thank you to All of you who encouraged ~
Penny: a roadside altar in Central America
Linda and Marti: forest landscape
nance: a temple of Christmas
Debi: a hidden tree
Suzanna: another plane altogether
Gracie: a tent, a little dot of light and human intensity
nance: the collective consciousness
Elizabeth: the southern summer night sky
Peggy/Woman with Wings: moon, reflected in water
susan: a tree, a house, home
sandra: the sun below
Penny: capturing the moon, rooted in the moon
marti: tassels, guardians of light
jude: a sun keeper
Debi: protecting/nurturing sun?/moon?
Twhich: snake, lizard, Ouroboros
and then new friend Emmy who is investigating symbology
on her blog

and my Dear Helen wondered: so, which IS IT!

and i loved all these thoughts.
i ask myself Helen's question. (don't stop, helen)...
as i stitch, i tell self different stories...one that
the Sun goes to a secret place, a different level of
being during this time
or Sun is absorbed into the earth, into roots, and is
reluctant
or Sun, in infinite wisdom withholds, allowing rest
or or or
but what it mostly is for me, is lack of light. and
each year, i endure this, watching the days until that
One Moment when balance is tipped in its extreme and
there is more dark than light. one day/night and then
we begin again, moving toward Light.
but what is best about the making of this cloth is
that it caused in me a realization that i can make
my
own
myth.
that that is in some way i don't fully comprehend as
yet, what this cloth making is for me. and if i
go deeply into it, i will find things i'd never
dreamed.
so...enough for now.

Oh Grace... What a beautiful post. Your winter myth is beautiful and your thoughts are deep and provoking. AND, best of all, you honor all of us with your comments. A lovely season... a deep and mysterious cloth!

Grace, nice story. Plus Marti saying "it's all illumination" was a great post.

(btw grace, i know it's been a loooong time, but i finally found a fix for me commenting in the embedded forms, so if you wish to change your commenting back, it works for me now... i really appreciate your changing it for me in the first place... much love!)

Being one's own myth! That is going to take some pondering...I like it...

I agree it is about the light. Since I live in the northwest, I get little sun. This time of year I am screaming for it. The cloth is wonderful and your thoughts of creating it spur me on to go deeper. Have a good solstice and I will think of you.

. . .finding things you'd never dreamed . . .-- oh, my. I love that. I am so glad to have found you and the rest of the cloth community. Such an amazing and inspiring nation of women. Thank you.

Today is St. Lucia's Day -- the returning of the light, rising of the moon, both.

learner about a lot of things.
thank you for your patience and
support.... ( know you aren't
"there"...up plugging the hole
in your roof...but anyway)

Helen...yes...marti is a word
wizard and it's true. all

and keep the questions coming.
they're a good thing.

twhich~i don't even remember what
the other way was like?...so you
have progressed and i have just
drifted...hmmmmm. was it better?
unless i could answer each comment
right under it like jude does,
"reply to", then i don't think it
would be an improvement, whatever
it was.
xoxoxox to you

Suzanna..well, i think it's more
finding/imagining a Myth that i
would "fit" into...am thinking
and will go along with the
thinking as it comes...
it's just that thing about how
it seems humanity is evolving....

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

Deb G...well...a myth has
direction
as a significant component...?

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

Linda~yes. when i left Michigan i
went to Oregon first...my friend
since teen years was there...
so beautiful, but i
need
Sun
and
heat.

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

Manya...yes, it IS a mandala
and
stories..oh, stories....

Peggy WwW~it really IS an amazing
and so wonderful group of women
that involve themselves with Jude.
are you going to be able to do the
Boro class? or Whispering?...i
would look forward to working
with you in these...it fast
forwards the level of connectedness.
but am really glad you have found
your way here...good company for
the journey....

no i'd check every so often to see if blogger had gotten around to fixing it. but another blogger discovered it and posted it in the help forum as a temporary fix. it's the type of comment form that's directly in the page... like on cristina or suzanna's blog. no you can't reply directly under so... i wish they would get around to making that for blogger, if they are even thinking of it.

i don't know about progressed miss grace... i like the sound of drifted... with the wind.
much love!

Mo'a ~ it's a good feeling to me
to remember your giraffe mama and
her baby son that you began in
Jude's Beast class...and be able
to go back to look again at her
look of concentrated concern.
Julian, the little boy in this
family, for some reason, loves
giraffes. he is one. this is
his first christmas and am feeling
(in my last minute way) like i
need to make a hand puppet for
him and for his mom/dad.
so...so glad and Thank You
