this is it.

there is the urge to think of more little things to add.
that it is "not enough". too plain.

but i won't. yesterday, looking for something else entirely,
i came across this bell in one of the bead tins.
i picked it out and looked at it for a long time, listened
to it's clear little tone. put it back.
and it all progresses this way:
~somewhere in the dream during the night, i am making something
with the bell.
~this morning, i see jude's jar.
~finishing the Wind strands, i am compelled to go find the bell, the
strand of magic thread, and
~the feeling that sometimes happens when dream and awake realities
cross, begins. i have no way to describe that feeling but the
closest i can come is that it is like some kind of vertigo.
a physical sensation.

and so, this is it.

Beautiful... and also your description of the almost vertigo sensation of the crossing over of life and dreams.. I know it. There are stories to tell of that... for another time!

I like the word verification word right now... its "SWOOT"... that should have a meaning, I wonder what it would be?

Just enough...perfect...and that little bell was just the perfect finishing touch. The little tinkling bell gives this piece a real spiritual quality.

valerianna:...swoot...that feeling,
maybe, where the edges don't match
and you feel like you are going
sideways? a kind of swootie thing?

its fabulous as i knew it would be. the bell is perfect;it will rind with the wind calling the children. dreams are crossing all over the place... president obama was in my kitchen getting a drink of water after he helped us move a tree. on fri nite, last night there was a crowd at ayers creek and i had to fight for beans which i got and then decided to make pirate prayer flags to ward off crowds. i'm rambling... the curtain is gorgeous. felicitations!

good, then...it is the right
decision. so many other things
considered, but nope...the little
bell, the black/white seed beads,
with the one red one. the three
colors of floss, all seperated,
wind thread.

nance...LOVE your rambling. That
is EXACTLY how everything feels!

Love the additions and the whole of it, Grace - but especially the dream bell - a 'ring' of your committment to the cloth! My word verification is 'ovessio' and maybe that's spanish for a standing ovation :)

Yvonne...an Ovessio, yes, to All
of us who are trying to listen
and go with the Flow....

Mnem...the best, really BEST part
of this is that a child, a young
girl, saw the one i made for myself
she
connected
to it
she spoke of what she saw
she asked.
this to me is more than i had
ever dreamed about anything i
made.
i think of her not as a girl, but
as a sister. she is a young sister, but a sister just the same.

the bell is such a perfect way to capture the wind.
i have collected bells almost as long as i have collected cloth.

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

jude...bells, yes. me too. and
i looked at all the really
interesting bells, the silver
bells, the bells from other
lands
and it is this one single jingle
bell.
i had given all, except this one,
away to the neighbor kids last
year.
kept this one.

it is like the set of Jacks that
i have from when i was a kid.

something is wanting to
"come around", whatever that means.

i love it! i had a neighbor girl about ten, immigrants from guatemala want to learn to quilt. she made the most fantastic pillow and then they moved.

Wind is in this cloth in so many ways: by the kantha stitch that gives ripple movement to the shade, by the wispy, swirling pieces of cloth, Jude's feathers falling from the sky and the bell that will jingle when the window is open just a little as the wind gently moves, the shade moves, the bell jingles and the children come to see their wind all lovingly given to them by a woman of the wind, wind and thread woven into a quiet cloth of joy and comfort. Beautiful.

the little heart, the little bell, all the kantha stitching and the wind threads - it's beautiful grace, doesn't need another thing except maybe a swoosh! in the wind.

Somewhere, I wish I remember where, I read that every time a bell sounds, a prayer is answered.

I have a collection of bells too.

"this is perfect" in every way, down to the little bell.

Grace, that little bell is oh so precious! Isn't it amazing what you can find in the button jars? They're one of my favourite places to shop!

Hi Grace- I love the little bell. I love what Manya wrote! I wonder if dreams and 'reality' are blurred most of the time. Great post- obviously the curtain is just right. Gilly x
