how it is

grasshoppers grow by sheding their exoskeletan

tonight, watering, this
stands out
someone changed
grew
and i squat, staring, wondering what that
feels
like?

also, thinking on the porch steps, to past years when So Many grasshoppers ate pretty much everything...
this year, that was so odd already, and there are very few grasshoppers.
but this one grew, fulfilling it's destiny

Do you think he feels really vulnerable? I think I would.

i keep looking at this...and it
occured that it might feel really
GREAT, like a really good kind of
itching feeling or something?
i only wish i'd been there or
noticed when it was happening.

It is so perfect...even the little wings...and it's holding on so delicately, as if by just a thought...

Suzanna, yes. and i just went to
look again in the mid morning
light and even more, it is just
astounding. this form is less
than paper thin, it is just a
wisp of substance but the greatest
thing is that the being just
slid or, uh, what??
i don't even know words..
but eased out in it's entirety,
antennae, wing buds, everything
leaving the shell of the too small
body so completely intact,
PERFECTLY intact...down to the
wonderful design along the hopping
legs
oh deep breath, long exhale

imagine being that transparent?

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

jude...i can't...thinking about
it makes me realize how dense
my body IS. but it might feel
really nice, like being able to
have light just pass through you?
or being very much the same as
anything you are near?
wow...that made me remember a
drawing i did a looooong time ago...wow again. maybe i can make
a cloth like that.....
