deanna...
i HAVE.
but here's the hitch. how do you
ever explain this to anyone who
doesn't sew?
my neighbor said, what are you
doing? i showed her. she got a
really difficult to describe look
on her face.
i just stood there and then thanked
her for the green chile and
calabasita and she went home.
off for a few more inches ~

oh my gosh grace... a tour de force. makes my little bit of stitching ... that took me hours... seem so minor... not for me though... it was huge! i'll post it tomorrow after i'm finished... and yes... why is it we do this? at least yours shows from across the room! but its putting our own mark on it. we humans mark things that are important.

Grace, this is an excellent occupation for Labor Day...it looks so beautiful, rippling away, a curtain river...

The kantha stitch has movement, like a soft breeze moving the cloth. Can see how doing this stitch weaves a meditative spell over you. Each stitch, a breath, each row a quiet energy.

Everybody ~
and isn't it just a certail little
miracle.
it's a piece of cloth,
some embroidery thread
a needle
and small simple repetative stitches ~~~~
loving too how those stitches in
fact add an entire layer of their
own, as if an additional piece
of something was added???

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

certain, not certail

I'm remembering a comment from a coworker who couldn't understand why I could do something over and over (I forget what project I was working on during a lunch break). It's mediation and making peace, at least for me.

Quite beautiful.. and labor intensive, it seems...

And, I KNOW that look! Once, while painting on a ledge on the side of a goat path, a shepherd stopped. He looked at my sketchbook, then at the view, then back at the sketchbook with that "difficult to describe look", smiled politely, and clicked at the goats to continue scrambling up the cobbles...!
