a thursday of August

this, and a lot of stitching

the Mexican Elderberry leaves:
on the lft, a little lighter. just in the canning jar and a day of Sun
the right, the copper pot and some hours of Sun
both, washed with Ivory soap, seem color fast.

tomatoes canned. from the Farmer's Market. two jars had to go into freezer because i didn't want to
do the 45 min processing for two additional jars. here, where i normally give away bags, 3 were harvested.
used the water bath water in an aluminum pot with elderberry leaves and muslin. haven't looked yet.

Mmmmm..yummy, Grace..both cloth and tomatoes that is. I have visitors and so can't dye or stitch at the moment.

nance...blue piece, i don't know.
before the counter change it was
less noticable because the stove
was there..it was a tree lit with
lights somewhere...all those
pretty much in that wall collage
are from years of National Geographics.

Penny B....soon enough. but isn't
it great how we long to get to it
when we can't??? i will look
forward to your dye work

hello Grace~I have been thinking about you and just checking in on how things are going for you. the piece you are working on does look balanced and is very beautiful. you have a great way of mixing simple yet complex...thought provoking :-) For elderberry dye, did you use berries or leaves? I wonder if we have those here in the northwest? I just dug out some fabric I put in a pot of soil with my zinnia's. In a week and a half it already started decomposing. very interesting. hope all is well.

Heike...i take that as an extreme
compliment. you are the Mistress of Subtle...
and well, since i love grey...BUT
it's really a green, but yes,
grey/green, like so many plants
appear on this horizon, a sage
green
thank you for the compliment and
the visit!

KELLIE!~ hey!
yes...Deb g lives up your way and
started my thing about Elderberry
but go on her blog, beecreative,
she got an ENTIRELY different color
not green at all!
this dye batch was from the leaves.
last year there was a bumper crop
of fruits that a friend took for wine making...this year, hardly any at all, but some coming on that
i will try.
i would like to hear anything at all about your composting results...that's on my list along
with rust...Penny's project....
thank you for good encouragement
about stitching. am hoping to finish it in the morning???
i often think of the things you
created...i really like them a lot...they hold such a quiet intensity and mystery. 2 Rooms,
Chair and Butterfly is still a
complete favorite...thank you and
i will keep seeing if you make a
blog.....hint. thank you

Hi Grace- let me know how the rusty rebar goes. BTW what do you mean by full of energy?! If you mean the number of posts..notice how there is nothing much about stitching. Visitors kind of put a curb on that.

I'm going to try tossing some copper pipe in with the elderberry I have at the moment, see if it will make it greener. I'm using our leaves from our native elderberry, Pacific Coast Red Elderberry. I need to get busy preserving some tomatoes....

penny ~ energy?, i guess i mean
"vibes", in this case. as in
being pleased with your surroundings, both internal and
external, taking pleasure from looking and doing.
no stitching, yes, but the visitors
will be gone and you will be at it again, i am confident....

twhich ~ ok...so i can wait through
Houston, but then~~~~~~~~~~NM!!!
??? maybe you WILL sit in that
blue chair?????
*happy*!

deb g ok. Pacific Coast Red
Elderberry. I will identify
formal name for this "yard being"
here...Mexican Elderberry is what
i know and it is native also...
but will find exact name. and
also, you were right in mentioning
water...our water is odd here and
i am sure enters into the equation.
as does the temp...it's HOT in those pots. Mid 90s.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR starting me
on this elderberry trail.
