it is the smallness of the figure, or the sense of scale that i love the most.

Hmmm...I think I carried this in my mind (or maybe my heart) because I just stitched a moon with a bit of gauze over the top of it. :)

Hi Grace ~ recently a friend loaned me a back issue of 'selvedge' magazine to peruse...it has a very graphic (and for me, thought provoking) cover. When I popped in over here and viewed your new piece, well, it occurred to me you might enjoy seeing it. Found their website page...the image is tiny but is so graphic I think you'll be able to see it ok: http://www.selvedge.org/pages/backissues.aspx

Much communication (heard & unheard) happens between humans & birds, I think...

Christi...thank you for the link
to Selvedge...it is a beautiful
image. this place being desert
with such vastness all around
lends itself to things being
experienced in an singular way.

Jude, yes...that is how it feels
here. the immensity of sky, the
circular horizon, clearly visible
no matter where i look..
when "the world" is too much with
me, all i need to do is look up
and be comforted.

Deb g ...moon and gauze, there
is great affinity

kaite...i see what you mean but
it depends on the light. it's
not really there.

hello, raven ~ when i came to
this acre of land, there was not
even one rock...large stone. there
was nothing but sand and in that
month of August, 3 kinds of weeds.
none even a foot tall. slow but
sure, like creating a story cloth,
i added and added. there are many
circles of stone/rock now around
the various tree wells, garden
beds, marking places where a single
native grass has taken root.
sometimes i have moved them and
placed them in other patterns when
i needed help, needed direction,
needed to quiet myself inside the
world around and all its doings.
