a beginning of a different kind

this doesn't seem like much of a change for a whole day,
but it is.
aside from a photograph in better light,( as in real light v.s.
flash with interference of hallway light last night )
i did another daring thing.
i set the scissors to a piece of wind that i'd gotten in a fragment
pack from jude months ago. it is the first of either of the two
packs that i will have
cut
and used. always thinking it is too special.
a shift
and here, this wind will be, maybe placed differently, but
am pretty sure, on this cloth.
i worked the rest of the time on the image of the
raven, it's wing...

Hi Grace - I'm working on a raven right now as well. Nice feeling. Also I understand a 'shift' about using the 'too special' items. I have experienced some release like that - using the best oddments I have for the job at hand. Mmm a big change for me. Makes a party. Peace, Gillian

gillian...hard to not SEE what
you are doing...are you putting
it over on beasts? will go look.
yes. a party of freeing up.
i really like it when you show up
here out of the blue...Peace back
to you, g

~Gillian~
went to Beasts and no , not there
either. would you mind telling me
why it is that you don't make a
blog? is it that you truly don't
WANT to? if so, i will just let
it go.
but if not and there is something
that just means working toward it,
then....let's figure it out.
your cloth making is really of
great value. it is magic. i
am energized by seeing your stitches, by reading the stories.
so.,,
i guess i am being selfish?
self serving?
hmmmmm

Hi there - well I am mulling over your words of wisdom and in the last 24 hours I am getting very inclined towards creating a blog. I don't want to post photos at beasts until Jude has had her re-juvenation time -just 'cos there is prolly more likelihood of something going wrong with photos- and it may disturb her. Plus it is good to kind of be rejuvenating alongside her. My raven is incy- worried it will just look like a blob - I'll try it out first. Yours will be graceful and balanced, in harmony with your cloth. G

gillian, i dont want to push where
push shouldn't be but also want to
say that this blog thing is not
about anything, really, yet. in
my estimation. it is only about
people connecting in a very vulnerable way.
i understand you wanting to wait for jude. all of us trust her.
funny...that is maybe something she
might need to hear/know...how all of us trust her. in a very deep
sense of the word.

ok...well...i guess is will just wait. but
still, saying that what you make
is unusual and really excellent.

Well, of course your "wind" came from Jude! Don't you find that photographing it helps with the decision making as you add and subtract elements. And tell Gillian that I started blogging during Jude's workshop because I wanted to stay connected to this community...loving it.

its hard to cut into fabric you have been hoarding for a while - but then suddenly the time is right

i'm finding that this loose woven circle of bloggy friends is very inspiring and rewarding and the feedback and feedforward is extremely fulfilling.
and even tho most of us, tho not all, have connected via jude's workshop, now we're connecting in a more independent way and doing our own thing - so it's a maturing of the cloth circle friends...k.

oh and i meant to say, grace expect that the piece of wind will move around for a while as wind does eddy and swirl until it finally settles...k.

A bit of wind can freshen things up! I've been working hard on letting go of "preciousness." It's hard...

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

nandas/nance, funny...to get the
woven more true to color, the
Wind appears purpleish. when
i look at it in my hand, it is
black...

anni ~ yes. i am making more, as
much as i can. yesterday, 2 pieces. today rain but maybe
tomorrow....
and i see your garden growing!

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

penny ~ adding and subtracting
elements...yes and a certain
"distancing" that gives an entirely different view

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

abigail..i've had the entire
square pinned to the window
installation with the large piece
of silk that i posted here months
ago...suddenly, it got unpinned
and
cut

grace Forrest~Maestas said...

kaite...like that word a lot
feedforward
this is what it is...how it is
experienced...

Grace I am going to give blogging a go, if I find it constrains rather than expands then I am not bound to it. I have a fear of the written word (which I am overcoming) in-as-much as thinking what I write is forever etched, forever marked. A paralysis. Just as persevering with cloth making is liberating I am confident that persevering with putting words on a page will also be freeing. Thank you Grace, and Penny also - because that is what I want - to keep participating in this gentle uplifting community of cloth. It will take few days I expect - but soon I'll be able to share on a blog too. I'm in such good company. Gillian

way to go Gillian, and you can always go back and re-edit your own words on your blog, i have been known to go back months and change a few words. If you need any help with a blogger blog there are plenty of us here who could assist, incl me.
Another feedforward grace...k.

gillian... i don't know you except through grace but i also have a fear of committing words to "paper" and i also started a blog... just to have it in place when i take jude's class in sept. i thought i would be posting more thread work than i have... life gets in my way sometimes and i haven't done much fiber work lately so ... but i like the fact that it is there. i encourage you to go ahead... you know you don't even have to put up words at all... or just a few... bon courage.. as the french say!

so grace is this the start of the wind curtain piece?
