and nandas (who is nance) just said
isn't it hard to cut into cloth we love

i was saving this to say later, but it was nance who sent the silk piece of cloth
and the beauty was i didn't need to cut it
it came
ready
i think according to its own purpose
but now wants wind

jude! LOOK!
when I received this piece of cloth from jude I just sat and held it for days
and then since, off and on
thinking I would never be able to bear using it.
but, look. eeeeee.

so, it is just pinned now and am thinking i will probably need to
cut
it

awkward

thank you, everyone, for all your thoughts and encouragement.....
i am finding this blogging very awkward. I want to respond individually
but can't seem to find a way to do that so it is easy for people to find
the response
and the WIND is not helping...it's been constant, reminding me of
contractions when we are in transition, in labor, giving birth.
although it is how it often is in new Mexico, nonetheless, it has it's effect

so, slowly I will tell you individual things....i am reading everyone's
blogs and there is just so much in each that i relate to and want to
respond to. many of you are familiar from jude's comments and i already
"know" you
the amazing thing to me is the common ground we all stand on.
again, thank you from my heart

need to think of a name

kaye turner says
before it looked ghostly and ethereal, now it looks holy

thank you for this thought...it is a key

and what changed?
the moon from glennis
how the silk now reaches up and curves around this moon
the "time of day", or Sun journey/Moon journey that the photograph was taken....
somehow changing the color of the dark cloth...need to watch this as it re~occurs over
the next few days
the dried strands of native grasses put back on the shelf in front...in the other photograph
i'd moved it away

nance says before it was self referential, now is in context of moon
another key thank you!,yes

ok...here it goes

sometimes when I can't sew
it has to be enough to just create some kind of "installation".
as in pinning this piece of silk to a piece of cloth, then, both
to the curtain at the end of the living room.
as I looked at this, I though, what on earth would I DO with
this piece of silk .... anyway
that could possibly make it better, or more
than it is just as is?

the picture has nothing to do with anything, i just liked her a lot.
thanks for encouragement and great ideas...am still mulling them all and yes,
nance ~ I remembered the NYT article and if I were better at this, i'd link it here

deb ~ i think it's just as you said it, pulled thread. this particular cloth is cotton so....but i do have some linen.
and i didn't think about it, but going back, it was a little haiku-ie makes me smile

dee ~ thank you for appearing and the suggested link

as I am digging post holes and replacing 24ft of wood fencing, I think of all this
and I like trying to replicate the orb spider web with couched embroidery floss i think, but on another cloth entirely?
(that doesn't exist yet) and then begin the pulled thread linen

again, these are just experiments, "studies" as jude said, for the second workshop...story cloth

and jennlui ~ we are getting closer, soon.

jude moves in the world of
What If?

i am in the world of
How?

How
can I make a web under that moon?

can I do it with silk gauze?

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

deb, jennlui, suzanna and anni
Thank you for taking a look. jude's comment about making "studies" made so much sense.
I thought to continue putting some experiments together before the workshops begin to
find points where I have questions and don't know how to go forward.

and anni, the cloth IS sort of woven. It is what Jude's first workshop is about. And again,
it is a penny moon from glennis dolce.

again, thank you all for commenting...I felt awkward about the blog thing but it's really the
only way to share (or flickr, I guess and I couldn't figure out how to set that up)

look forward to Everything

and Manya~ you left me a lizard! on this piece of earth are many blue tailed lizards. I'll
try to get a photograph. I left you a note on MythColour, but here too...I love your
remnants. thank you!

an odd sense of loyalty

this is it. That odd sense of loyalty...here, about leaving the "dolls". But this is why. No longer could the "doll", the figure alone, say what wants to be said. The figure speaks for its self, only. This is about the experience of the narrator, yes, but also the experience itself, as All, as
the whole of it, the interdependence.

scanned. not the whole, too large for scanner. but the image is much sharper than with the camera.
i may have made a shift. When it is not "right", it is not right. keep moving things around. and until it becomes more
~second nature~ keep going, past the discomfort...through the discomfort and suddenly, it becomes what it wants to be.
This is BeBe, the baby goat, passing over. ok.
